The setup

Arthur is grabbed by soldiers as a boy, sent off to a war he is too young to fight, and left with no way back to his mother and sister. Ten years later he has survived countless campaigns and become the Duke of Mercia, whom the King sends to his home region on a task, hosted by the very baron who once dispatched him to the front. Arthur no longer remembers his family, but his parents never stopped waiting, and in the village they are mistreated by neighbours and by their own relatives, among them a cousin who serves the baron. Keeping his rank hidden, the duke steps in to protect them, and a keepsake pendant starts bringing his memory back.   Yes to the first: the note for episode 10 says he has no memory of his past, and the note for episode 14, the last free one, says that while looking at the pendant his parents show him he begins to remember everything. The necklace is a keepsake: in the episode 1 note his mother hands him and his sister matching necklaces on the day he is taken, and in the notes for episodes 7 and 8 Robert throws hers into the fire, she reaches into the flames for it and it is destroyed, and Anna makes sure her own is on show when she serves the Duke.
